The City of Paradise, Texas is located in Wise County. According to tradition, the area was a cowboy’s “paradise”. Settlement can be traced back to the early 1870’s when Bill Anderson opened a general store. Eldorado was the initial community name however settlers learned that name was already taken and suggested Paradise Prairie. The name was later shortened and they received a post office branch in 1876. In 1893 the Rock Island Line reached the area so the town moved 1mile north to utilize the railroad. This move eventually lent to a prosperous retail market for area farmers. Today, Paradise continues to grow while maintaining the sought after small town spirit.

In June of 2000 Mrs. Edna Wood founded the Paradise Historical Society. Among many things they successfully dedicated the Veterans Park on Main Street in 2009 and continue to enhance the community in various ways including the Main Street Festival held yearly.
